1897 Fenton was served by two private banks:
HB Latourette Bank & EB Wightman Exchange Bank
1898 HB Latourette founded the chartered bank, Commercial Savings Bank, from HB Latourette Bank Bank assets of $25,000
1899 Olds Motor Works in Detroit erected the first factory built in America for the manufacturing of automobiles
1908 Frederick H Hitchcock was instrumental in the formation of the chartered bank, Fenton State Savings Bank, from Wightman Exchange Bank Bank assets of $72,841
1913 There are 60,000 automobiles registered in Michigan
1931 Commercial Savings Bank and Fenton State Savings bank merged in 1931 to become The State Savings Bank of Fenton $1.478 million at merger of the two Fenton banks
1933 Michigan votes to end national prohibition
1954 Linden Branch opens as the first branch office
1961 Bank assets reached $10 million
1965 Bank assets reached $16 million
1966 Opened first drive thru services
1968 Slogan on Michigan license plates changed to Great Lake State
1971 Bank assets of $28.7 million
1973 American military involvement in Vietnam ends; over 400,000 Michigan men and women serve
1974 Bank assets of $39.6 million
1977 Today's current Main Office opened;
Installed first ATM
1981 Bank assets of $80 million
1984 Bank assets reached $100 million
1987 Holly Branch opened
1988 Changed name to The State Bank
& Formed holding company, Fentura Financial, Inc.
1994 Michigan accounts for 32.6% of all U.S. car production, building 2.1million passenger cars
1995 Launched internet banking retail customers
1996 VGs Branch opened
1998 Launched telephone banking
2000 Michigan’s population is 9,952,450
2001 Grand Blanc South Branch opened;
Launched internet banking for businesses
2002 Silver Lake Branch opened;
Launched partnership with Food Bank of Eastern Michigan
2004 Bank assets of $585 million
2006 Grand Blanc North Branch opened
2008 Brighton Branch opened
2011 Launched Change 4 Kids Program;
& Launched Mobile Banking
2016 Acquisition of Community State Bank based in St. Charles
2017 Launched Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) open seven days a week
2019 Farmington Hills Branch opened Bank assets surpassed $1 billion
2020 The State Bank launches several Covid Relief programs for families and businesses
2021 Acquisition of Farmers Bank of Munith
2022 Bay City LPO opened;
Honored as the Small Business Administration Community Lender of the Year
2023 Downtown Flint Branch opened in the historic Ferris Wheel Building;
